The Texinfo package contains programs for reading, writing, and converting info pages.

Required disk space: 100 MB

5.34.1. Installation of Texinfo

Prepare Texinfo for compilation: 

./configure --prefix=/tools

Compile the package: 

make

Compilation is now complete. As discussed earlier, running the test suite is not mandatory for the temporary tools here in this chapter. To run the Texinfo test suite anyway, issue the following command: 

make check

Install the package to a temporary directory: 

make install DESTDIR=$(pwd)/debian/tmp

Create the package archive: 

buildpkg --package=texinfo-pass1

Install the package: 

dpkg -i ../texinfo-pass1_5.2_*.deb
